WHAT WE BELIEVE
Our Church is apart of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. We believe that Christ is the Savior, the Healer, the Sanctifier, and the Coming King! We also support the CMA's emphasis of the importance of world wide missions.
When I grew up, I attended a community Bible Church. After graduating from Mona Shores High School, I drove south and attended Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I make no apology for my beliefs being primarily that of “Baptist.” These are seven distinctive Baptist beliefs that I adhere to: (Note this acrostic message.)
B aptism by emersion for the believer. Once a person comes into a personal faith in Christ, they should demonstrate their faith by following the Lord thru the waters of baptism. Baptism symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. A person is not “saved” because they are baptized with “water,” they are “saved” if they have been baptized into God’s family by the Holy Spirit upon receiving Christ as Lord and Savior.
A tonement thru the blood of Christ. Atonement speaks of the price that Christ paid for our redemption. Note this word, “At One Ment.” We have been made one with God the Father because our salvation was purchased by means of the blood of Christ. Our sin debt has been paid in full thru His atoning work.
P riesthood of every believer. Since we have been made one with God thru the blood of Christ, we have been granted “priesthood” privilege. Every believer has full access to God the Father. God hears and answers our prayers.
T rinity. We believe in the trinity of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. These three are One. The only way to God the Father, is thru the atoning work of God the Son. Once a person has come into a personal faith in Christ, God the Holy Spirit takes up residency in their beings. Our bodies become the Temple of the Holy Spirit.
I nspiration of the Scriptures. We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God. God created the world and has a plan for each believer. God wants us to know his plan for our lives. As we read the scriptures, assisted by the indwelling Spirit, we can both know and achieve God’s will.
S ealed by God’s Spirit. Once a person comes into the family of God, God places this person into his loving family, and will never leave them, nor forsake them. Once a person is saved, they are saved. Not only are all their sins placed under the blood, but they have robed and covered in the righteousness of Christ. There are earthly consequences for sin. The earthly body is not saved, but the soul a man has assurance of a heavenly home.
T otal depravity. A person who is without Christ, is governed by and blinded by the God of this world (Satan.) They are lost and in need of God’s salvation. A person is saved when they place their faith in the finished work of Christ and the cross. Their faith placed them into the abiding “grace” of God. If a person is not saved, they are lost and bound for eternal condemnation in Hell. That is why it is essential that those of us who are saved, seek to preach the gospel to every creature as commanded by the Lord in his great commission to the Church.
Final Note: There are a good many verses that I could quote that would support the doctrines that I have just conveyed. Please come and visit the Church and I would be most happy to share them with you! -Pastor Jerry DePoy
